In just a few weeks, Helen Davies will be lacing up her running shoes for one of the biggest challenges of her life – the London Marathon. This legendary 26.2 mile race, taking place on Sunday, 27 April 2025, sees thousands of runners take to the streets of the UK capital, cheered on by packed crowds lining the pavements.
For Helen, this isn’t just about completing a race, it’s about making a difference. She’s running in support of the Jac Lewis Foundation, a charity that provides life-changing mental health and wellbeing support to individuals and families in Ammanford and across South West Wales. She has seen first hand the impact of the foundation, as her own family has benefitted from the support it provides. Taking part in this marathon is her way of giving back to an organisation that has done so much for the community.
Training Through the Toughest Months
A proud member of the Amman Valley Harriers, a well-established running club in Ammanford, Helen has been training through the toughest winter conditions. The cold weather and demanding sessions have tested her both physically and mentally, but with the encouragement of her running buddies, she has stayed motivated and determined. Training for a marathon can be overwhelming, but she keeps pushing forward, knowing that she has committed to running for an incredible cause.
Her goal is to be as prepared as possible for race day, and she hopes the effort she has put in over the months will carry her through the challenge ahead. The London Marathon is not just any race, it is the world’s most popular marathon, and Helen is looking forward to experiencing the incredible atmosphere created by thousands of spectators cheering from the sidelines.
Supporting Mental Health in Our Community
The Jac Lewis Foundation has become a vital part of the local community, providing free and confidential mental health support to those who need it most. Its work ensures that nobody has to struggle alone. Helen feels strongly about the importance of this cause and recognises the incredible passion and dedication that has gone into building this organisation. Knowing that so many others have taken on challenges to support this foundation inspires her to do the same.
As part of a strong and supportive community, Helen hopes to play a small part in ensuring that the foundation continues its vital work. She is joining the many fundraisers who push themselves beyond their limits to raise funds for mental health support, and she is proud to contribute in any way she can.
How You Can Help
Helen is hoping to raise as much as possible to support the Jac Lewis Foundation. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help provide essential mental health services to those in need. She believes that even the smallest contributions can make a big difference and is incredibly grateful for any support she receives.
Each donation will not only help her reach the finish line but will also ensure that the Jac Lewis Foundation can continue to support those who rely on its services. If you’d like to contribute, you can donate via her JustGiving page: Helen’s JustGiving Page
