The sun was shining on Glynhir Golf Club on Friday 30th May 2025, as the Jac Lewis Foundation hosted its very first Charity Golf Day – and what a day it turned out to be! Thanks to the incredible support of our local community, the event raised an outstanding £8,000 to support mental health and wellbeing in Ammanford and across South West Wales.
This inaugural event brought together 21 teams for a fantastic day of golf, laughter, and generosity – all in aid of the Jac Lewis Foundation. The four-ball format saw players of all abilities enjoy a fun-filled day on the fairways, with a healthy dose of competition too!
We are especially grateful to the many local businesses who took part and helped make the day so special. Among those represented were:
- The Red Lion, Llandybie
- Police Pass Training
- Castle Scaffolding
- Cladzone
- TW Group South Wales
- D. Davies Plumbing & Heating
- Scott Griffiths Funeral Directors
- GD Harries & Sons
- Kitchens by Emma
- NP Financial Services
- Cefneithin Rugby Club
A special thank you goes to Simon Thomas of Sterling Construction and Neil Armstrong of RNA Plant. Both entered two teams and generously donated a number of fantastic items for the post-match auction. Their ongoing support is truly appreciated.
Speaking of the auction – a highlight of the day came when a signed Gareth Bale Wales shirt raised over £700 on its own! Combined with the proceeds from the raffle and other auction prizes, the fundraising element of the day was a huge success.
Of course, there was also some impressive golf played. Congratulations to RNA Plant Team 2, who claimed the title of Team of the Day, and to Adam Jones of Vaughan Construction, who won the individual title with an excellent 42 points.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to Rhodri Treharne, Manager at Glynhir Golf Club, and the incredible team of greenkeepers and staff who helped make the day run so smoothly. Their hospitality and hard work played a big part in the event’s success.
Following the overwhelming support and positive feedback, we’re delighted to confirm that plans are already underway to make the Jac Lewis Foundation Charity Golf Day an annual event.
Events like this not only raise vital funds but also bring people together – reminding us of the power of community and the importance of looking out for one another.
Thank you once again to everyone who played, sponsored, donated, or cheered us on. We couldn’t do this without you.
